Stainless steel barrel or blued what is better for hunting and bad weather conditions?

stainless or blued

what is the best steel??Stainless steel barrel or blued what is better for hunting and bad weather conditions?
As a Gunsmith, I would recommend the Stainless over the blued finish. In reality, Stainless Steel WILL in fact rust if left exposed to moisture for a period of time. Since most barrels are 100% stainless steel, there is no ';finish'; to get scratched or wear off, as there are with Blued finishes that are done with a Hot Salts chemical process.Scratch a stainless barrel, simply buff it out..Scratch a Blued barrel and the entire barrel will have to be re-blued........

This is why you see a majority of popular hunting rifles offered in stainless steel and they are sold with synthetic Stocks..They hold up much better in all temperatures and harsh weather conditions, and ';resist'; rusting and oxidation.Stainless steel barrel or blued what is better for hunting and bad weather conditions?
Stainless requires less maintenance. Best steel? All modern fireams use quality steel.

stainless,won't rust
The stainless is more weather resistant but it must have some sort of camouflage put on it when hunting to keep it from reflecting light and spooking the game that you are hunting. Blued barrels do not spook animals but care must be taken with them to prevent rust. They are not that hard to take care of. Just wipe them down with a rag with a llittle bit of gun oil on it. I personally like to use Renaissance wax on the outside of my guns. it is a monocrystalline wax that is used by many museums to keep their metal displays from rusting or corroding. It is available from many fine furniture stores. it is a bit expensive but you need so little that a jar will last you for years.
Stainless is much more rust resistant than bluing.
Stainless is definitely more resistent to the elements. I believe it stands out more in the woods though. Either way, I would go with a matte finish.
The stainless has its advantages as listed by others above me. I prefer a matte stainless barrel if you can find one. No glare.
It doesn't really matter, as long as you clean the gun when your done hunting and wipe the barrel with gun oil after words. The chance of a blued barrel rusting after a day hunting is highly unlikely. Ive hunted all day in the rain before with my 243 which has a blued barrel and never had a problem with it rusting. Now if your going to be hunting for long periods of time without cleaning your gun then get a stainless steel barrel. Stainless steel will rust it just takes longer.
well I can't give you a better answer than you have already gotten
